Lifted Voices is BCDI-Atlanta’s diversity, equity and inclusion program - a multi-tiered approach designed to systematically address the programmatic needs of social justice. Five IMPRESSIVE fellows make up our inaugural class. Let's meet Lifted Voices Fellow Yeme Thomas! Yeme is the identical twin sister of Lifted Voices Fellow Yema Thomas, who we featured last month.
Yeme is an emerging leader with hopes of making a difference in the policy and education sectors. She has worked as an educator, a policy analyst and community organizer. Yeme earned a political science degree and is currently pursuing certification in Special Education. She is particularly interested in dismantling the public school to prison pipeline and feels that increasing literacy in Black children will be critical in doing so.
BCDI-Atlanta is honored to have Yeme in our inaugural Lifted Voices Fellowship program!
