In the spirit of honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Grainger Atlanta team demonstrated incredible engagement and excitement by actively contributing to the Atlanta community. With 44 volunteers spread across two branches, we partnered to passionately assemble 250 literacy kits. This heartwarming initiative, conducted on National MLK Day 2024 - Dr. King’s actual birthday (January 15), showcased the power of collective effort in making a positive impact. The literacy kits, brimming with educational resources, were later delivered to our partners at Asa G. Hilliard Elementary School in East Point, Georgia.
The collaborative effort between BCDI-Atlanta and the Grainger Atlanta team reflects a commitment to fostering education and empowerment within the community. Each kit contains a copy of the heartwarming book "Love Grows Everywhere" by Barry Timms and Tisha Lee. This carefully chosen literary piece not only encourages a love for reading but also imparts valuable lessons about caring, sharing, kindness, and love. Beyond the book, the kits include information about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and engaging activities designed to promote these essential values, ensuring a holistic and enriching learning experience for the young recipients.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to the Grainger Atlanta Team for their remarkable dedication to this community initiative. The Black Enterprise Network BRG also played a pivotal role, contributing their efforts to bring this project to fruition. It is through the collective commitment of these individuals that the literacy kits were made possible, embodying the true spirit of unity and collaboration.
On Friday, January 19, 2024 the culmination of this collaborative effort saw the delivery of the 250 literacy kits to Asa G. Hilliard Elementary School. The joy and excitement on the faces of the students as they received these kits emphasized the positive impact such initiatives can have on the local community.
