BCDI-Atlanta In the Community: Back to School Event in Newton County

Bethlehem Baptist Church and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc, Chi Tau Omega Chapter expressed their gratitude to BCDI-Atlanta for our generous support of their first Annual Book Giveaway on July 31, 2022!

Parents and children in Newton County eagerly approached the book tables, where they were able to view a variety of books and make selections for their home libraries!

BCDI-Atlanta's Board Historian Debbie Hillman (pictured just above) worked alongside the organizers to ensure culturally relevant picture books were available for the children and their families. Debbie reflects, "Sharing the gift of reading is an amazing way to launch a successful school year!"

We are thankful to our partners at Too Small To Fail for providing us with culturally responsive children's books! The Thing About Bees: A Love Letter by Eric-Shabazz Larkin was a true hit!
