Promote early literacy and language development, which includes supporting families and early education programs with access to culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate children’s books and supplementary resources.
Read to Succeed
Developed by the National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI), the Read to Succeed program is designed to promote early literacy and language development by supporting families with children between birth and eight years old to establish home libraries with culturally responsive and developmentally appropriate children’s books and providing them with supplementary resources through our National Affiliate Network, including BCDI-Atlanta. With support from NBCDI, BCDI-Atlanta provides young children and their families with children’s books designed to foster early literacy skills and establish at-home libraries.

​BCDI-Atlanta’s Culturally Responsive Literacy Course equips early educators with information and resources necessary for building relationships and experiences that support the needs of young learners and their parents.
At the end of the course, early educators will be able to identify strategies for students and their parents to feel a sense of belonging in their classrooms by arranging a space where they feel safe, respected, heard, and challenged during the implementation of listening, speaking, reading and writing experiences.
Course completers can apply to receive FREE books, thanks to our Read to Succeed partnerships.
